Michael J. Burns, DPM
Dr. Michael Burns completed his undergraduate education at the University in Lincoln, NE, and the University of Denver. He graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1972.
Dr. Burns is a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot Surgeons, the American College of Foot Orthopedists, and the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.
Dr. Burns continues to be an active speaker for professional groups and organizations. When free time permits, he likes to pursue his interests in archaeology, flying, golf, kayaking and cross-country skiing.
Kate Johnson, DPM
Dr. Kate Johnson completed her undergraduate work in Cellular, Molecular and Developmental Biology at the University of Washington in Seattle. She began her medical studies at William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. During this time she received two Distinguished Scholar Scholarships and graduated with her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree in the spring of 2011.
Following medical school, Dr. Johnson relocated to Phoenix, Arizona for a three year surgical residency at Maricopa Medical Center. Her podiatric training included reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, traumatic injury correction, diabetic limb salvage, wound and burn care, sports medicine, lower extremity biomechanics and pediatrics.
Dr. Johnson is delighted to have the opportunity to join the remarkable team of doctors at A Step Ahead Foot and Ankle Center. Her goals are to practice inclusive and personalized treatment for a wide variety of foot and ankle problems.
Dr. Johnson has an avid interest in history, languages and folk music. She also loves traveling and exploring the outdoors, and spends much of her free time gardening, kayaking, climbing, caving and hiking in the mountains with her husband and three dogs.
Chad M. Knutsen, DPM
Dr. Chad Knutsen grew up in Eastern Iowa. He completed his undergraduate degree at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1989. He graduated from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, located in Chicago, Illinois in 1993. Dr. Knutsen completed a one year internship and a two year surgical residency at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Knutsen is a member of the Colorado Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Knutsen enjoys spending time with his family: his wife, Victoria, two daughters, Bria and Tori and son, Mitchell. His recreational activities include fishing, boating, and numerous outdoor activities.
Robert C. Schulte, DPM
Dr. Robert Schulte is a Colorado native who grew up on the eastern plains of Colorado in a small ranching and farming community. He stayed in Colorado and completed his undergraduate work at Colorado State University. He graduated from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois in 1993. Dr. Schulte then completed a two year surgical residency at Loretto Hospital and Hugar Surgery Center in Chicago.
Dr. Schulte is a member of the Colorado Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Schulte enjoys golf, skiing, hiking and various other outdoor activities.
