The staff of A Step Ahead Foot & Ankle Center is dedicated to providing excellence in foot & ankle health care. Our facilities have been designed to provide you with the utmost in comfort and convenience in podiatric medicine. A Step Ahead Foot & Ankle Center utilizes in-house x-ray services, eliminating the extra expense and inconvenience of having to send you elsewhere for these diagnostic services.

Podiatric Medicine

A doctor of Podiatric Medicine is trained to treat all ailments of the foot, ankle and lower leg. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Flat feet, high arches, heel pain, bunions and hammertoes.
• Ankle sprains, fractures and chronic pain.
• Nail problems including fungal infections, ingrown nails and thickened nails.
• Infant deformities such as club foot, flat feet, intoeing and other congenital deformities.
• Sports injuries and prevention.
• Nerve problems such as neuromas, peripheral neuropathy and nerve entrapments.
• Skin problems like athlete’s foot and other dermatoses.
• Warts

Telephone Calls

If you need to speak with your doctor’s Medical Assistant regarding your foot and/or ankle condition, please call the office number anytime. During business hours, he or she will, most likely, need to return your call as she may be assisting patients in the office throughout the day. Our front staff will either take a message or transfer you to the assistant’s voicemail where you may leave a message. Please be aware that your call may not be returned until the end of the business day after patient hours have ended, but it will be attended to as soon as possible. Messages cannot be left after hours, or on weekends.  If you have an after hours true emergency, the answering service will page the attending on-call physician and that person will return your call to assist you.

Fees & Payments

In order to control costs, payment is due at the time services are performed. The fees for evaluation and treatment vary depending upon the complexity of your condition and the treatment required. Additional charges will be made for x-ray and laboratory services, if they are required.

If you don’t have the means to pay for your treatment, we offer and accept CareCredit. CareCredit® is a personal line of credit for healthcare treatments and procedures for your entire family, including your pets. It works like a credit card but it has two advantages; it can only be used for healthcare services and you can get No Interest financing every time you use it. Simply pay your minimum monthly payment and pay off the entire balance by the end of your promotional period and you pay No Interest or finance for a longer period of time with interest. If you have any questions regarding your treatment, your account or our office policies, please phone during business hours. We will see that you are referred to the staff person that is most qualified to answer your questions.

Insurance

Your insurance contract is made between you and your insurance company. Insurance policies often do not provide full payment of medical costs. Payment of your account is your responsibility.

We participate in many insurance programs. If we participate with your plan, we will bill the insurance carrier directly and you will be responsible for co-payments, deductibles and non-covered services. Insurance plans are changing rapidly so please call our office if you have questions about our participation with your particular insurance plan.

Referrals

You are responsible for obtaining a referral if it is required from your insurance. If a referral is not received, you are financially responsible for charges occurred for that date of service, in full.

Rebilling Fees & Other Charges

A rebilling charge of $10.00 will be assessed for all co-pays not paid at the time of service. A $5.00 billing fee will be assessed each month for all balances remaining after 60 days from billing date. Two missed appointments will result in a $25.00 fee and/or dismissal from our practice. There is a $25.00 charge for returned checks.
